Roof repair Often made after the damage has been done; however, if you keep up on routine roofs maintenance you can avoid Roof Leaks and unnecessary damage altogether.65% of roofs replacements are performed because of roof leaks. Roof leaks repair can be easily done by EPDM Rubber. Roof leaks repair is a top priority among building owners and managers. Break the roofs repair cycle with Elastomeric Roof Coatings. Liquid coatings are also formulates custom EPDM COATINGS and RUBBER for your specific commercial and industrial needs. Liquid Roof and Liquid Rubber are liquid EPDM Rubber products which form a membrane of 100% pure EPDM rubber when cured. this coating Rubber is specially Formulated for roof repair and leak repair.

The homeowners take the roofing problems seriously only when they view water leakage or brown discolor on the ceiling or if there is a crack in walls or peeling wallpapers. This proof may be seen only after few days of leaking inside your house. Many problems are arisen as fungus, dry rot, insulation damages, and many others. Thus you need a major repairing or replacement of the roof. Therefore to protect your roof from these problems, you are supposed to get the roof inspected once or twice every year. If you get time to time inspection of your roof, you will never have to pay extra dollars.

Roofs may need replacing for several reasons. It may be leaking and be more economical to replace rather than repair it. The roof may not be working correctly or does not look good. Another reason for replacing the roof may be because you are extending your home and want the roof to look fully uniform.

Over the past 45 years, EPDM single-ply roof systems have grown consid¬erably in market share compared with their modified bitumen and built-up competition. As a result, there are many aging EPDM roofs, and consultants will be faced with the task of providing cost-effective, durable solutions to keep the roofs in proper work¬ing order without tearing them off entirely.
Several factors come into play and impact consultants’ decisions regarding the end of a roof system’s useful life. Thermal bridging, proper drainage, R-value, surface color, wind uplift, and hail resistance are all important factors to consider. When every¬ thing is taken into account, consultants are faced with two primary choices when addressing an aged EPDM roof besides a complete tear off and replacement: restora¬tion and re-cover.

Now let talk about the products that are available in the market for leaks repair. The common products include Elastomeric coatings that are Liquid Roof and Liquid Rubber. These are the most effective products by way of cost and repair. Liquid Roof Coatings are Specially Designed for RVs. Liquid roof coatings are aftermarket products designed to extend roof life. Liquid Roof seals roof leaks, or merely provide a heat reflective or aesthetic roof coatings function over existing roof surfaces. Liquid Roof forms a 100% chemically-cured seamless White membrane every bit as solid and attractive as factory-installed sheet rubber. Liquid Roof's simple one-coat application by brush or roller saves you time and money, sealing and protecting your RV from water damage. Is liquid Roof a Good Choice

Liquid Roof is a true EDPM rubber and is the only one sold in liquid form. Liquid roof makes installations easy. Liquid Roof could be described as a liquid version of the single ply EPDM membrane which has established and outstanding performance record of over 30 years. Liquid roof is the solution to all the problems in other form of roofs. It don’t leaks as it is water resistant, it is not affected by weather conditions humidity, rain or extreme hot weather. If you have a liquid roof coating on your normal roof it is also a very effective solution. If in case, some damage occurs to the liquid roof then it’s easy to repair as it’s economical to repair as compare to others forms of roof.

Tips on Sealing Some of the Leakiest Areas

If you notice a draft through an outside wall electrical outlet, it must be sealed. (Some inside wall outlets can also provide leakage paths, so check them as well.) Turn off the power to the outlet by turning off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse. Check to make sure the power is disconnected by turning on a lamp.

You will obtain a better seal if you caulk the gasket before installation. Place child safety plugs in seldom-used outlets. Some foam pads come with a gasket that fits on the safety plug.

If you are installing an electrical outlet during a renovation, get a good seal by placing it in a special plastic box that is available from many hardware or electrical supply stores. Caulk the penetration for the wire, and seal the new air and vapour barrier to the edge of the box.

Planners and roofing companies still face a big challenge in finding an inexpensive, timesaving and durable sealing system for flat roofs on industrial buildings. Particular problems are presented by roofs with complex shapes and a large number of breakthroughs, such as airshafts and pipe supports. It is hard to get around these problems using conventional roof sheeting, especially as it is usually around the breakthroughs that the roof begins to leak.

There are number of materials that are used to provide an air barrier at different locations in the house. These include specialty gaskets and tapes, as well as sheet materials such as polyethylene, spun-bonded olefin, rigid insulation, drywall, plywood and sheet metal. Installation techniques are critical when using sheet materials as an air barrier. All edges, seams and penetrations in the sheets must be sealed.

• Replacing a Shingle
• House Call: Repointing Chimney Mortar
Repairing or replacing the most common types of roofing is usually relatively easy for a professional contractor with the right equipment. There are several things to consider as a project owner with a roofing repair, re-roofing job, or roof installation. Make sure first and foremost you know what you are trying to accomplish. Do you need a complete re-roofing job? How many layers of roofing material are on your roof? Is there any underlying damage that will need to be repaired prior to the new material being applied?
If you have a leak the chances are you have some damage besides just to your roofing. Make sure whoever completes the repair does a complete investigation regarding the potential damage that has been cause by the moisture. The last thing you want to do is have to go back in and have further repairs made.
Ten things you must know before going for your roofing projects;

a. Sometimes leaks come in twos and threes
b. Bad things happen down in the valley
c. Cracks can lead to big disasters.
d. Make certain your boots fit snug.
e. Don't let ice damn your roof
f. Dry rot leads to a wet ceiling.
g. Before you climb up the roof, check down in the gutter
h. Hose it down until it shows up
i. Bad roofs ruin good backs.
j. Let the conditions settle before you start to meddle

Although the materials have changed most modern roofs are designed with the same purpose. There is a similar inclined platform-design with overlaying shingles that move the water without any moisture coming inside. The type of materials depends on what part of the world you live in. In warmer climates clay tiles are prevalent while asphalt shingles are common in cooler, North American areas. It is proved that if living in US then Liquid Roof, Liquid Rubber mainly elastomeric coatings by many researchers. Liquid Roof is also best for your mobile home repair projects.

Liquid Roof; The Best EPDM Rubber For RV Roof's

Liquid roof coatings are aftermarket products designed to extend life, seal leaks, or merely provide a heat reflective or aesthetic function over existing roof surfaces. There are many products on the market ranging from asphalt based products, rubber solution [Hypalon, Neoprene, Silicone], water based Acrylic and other emulsions, and chemically curing systems such as urethanes and now Liquid Roof®. Choosing the right product requires some knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of each.
The most widely used coatings for RV Roof Leaks Repair are Acrylic elastomeric products. These are easy to use, have good weatherability and cure quickly in warm weather. The weakness of these products, however, comes from the fact that they are water-based emulsions which makes them vulnerable to sudden showers or freezing temperatures soon after application, and they have inherently poor resistance to ponding water. Another drawback for the Acrylic products is that they do not work over single ply EPDM membranes.
Liquid Roof® is a true EPDM rubber and therefore could be described as a liquid version of the single ply EPDM membrane which has been established as an outstanding performance record of over 30 years. The EPDM chemistry has two unique features not possessed by any other rubber -it is unaffected by ultra-violet and ozone, and can tolerate continuous exposure at temperatures over 300 degrees F. The latter feature is also what gives EPDM rubbers the best aging properties [retain flexibility longer] of all the elastomers.
Liquid Roof® is the only EPDM product currently in the market. It is priced higher than the Acrylics but this one disadvantage is more than outweighed by Liquid Roof's performance advantages and nearly total absence of conditions, which can result in disastrous failures. Many roofs will pond water. The gulf states all experience sudden afternoon showers. The northern states experience rapid temperature drops late in the day during Spring and Fall. These kinds of situations might only result in minor cosmetic surface distortions to the Liquid Roof® while the acrylic coating-based products could be partially or totally destroyed.

How to Inspect Your Roof

The best preventative maintenance for your roof is to perform visual inspections of the roof surface at least twice a year (Spring/Fall), and after any major storm (wind, rain, hail, snow) or construction project. This will help you to identify any potential problems that may come up. It is important to remember that traffic on your roof should be kept to a minimum as shingles are brittle, especially in extreme hot or cold temperatures. Instead of walking the roof, use a pair of binoculars to get a closer view of the roof surface. Here is what you should be checking:

Shingle Surface: Inspect the general surface of the roof. First, look for signs that the shingles may be lifting, loose or even missing. Check to make sure that the roof surface is free of all debris (leaves, garbage, twigs etc.). It is important that you do not power wash your roof! This can cause significant damage. Use a leaf blower or garden hose to remove debris. Look for mold, moss or algae – these occur more commonly in damp climates and often accumulate along the ridge or near the eaves or shaded areas of the roof. Look for exposed nails, hail marks, or missing granules (bald spots).

Flashings: Inspect all flashings around chimneys, vents, plumbing stacks, skylights, walls and valleys looking for rust, cracks, or other openings where water may enter. Look also for flashings that may have lifted from the surface of the roof. If you can see deterioration, call us right away to provide a more thorough inspection or repair.

Surrounding Vegetation: Look for areas where vegetation has grown over or is touching the roof surface. Trim back any overhanging branches. Shaded areas encourage moss and fungus growth and can encourage ice dams and run-off problems.

Building Exterior: Check your home for signs of shifting or settlement. Cracks in the structure (inside or out) are signs that there could also be cracks in the roof. Look to make sure that overhangs, soffit, fascia and downspouts are in good condition. Check your eaves-trough to make sure they are unclogged and free of debris.

Roofing safety

Roofing jobs should ideally be performed during dry, mild weather. Rain, ice or wind not only cause a roof or ladder to become slick and dangerous, but can ruin roofing materials. Underlayment, when wet, wrinkles, and needs to be dried before applying the shingles. The roof's wood deck needs to be dry before applying underlayment. Even morning dew poses a risk against the roofer, so be sure to check that the roof surface, all equipment and materials are dry before beginning a job, and that there is no risk of rain or high winds that day.
Working on a roof requires extra caution. The surface is usually slick, sloped, and well above the ground. Following are some precautions to take when making roof repairs:
• Don't walk on a roof any more than is necessary or you
may cause more damage. Don't walk on tile and slate roofs at all—they're slippery and breakable.
• Let a professional make any repairs on a steeply pitched roof—one that slopes more than 25 degrees or rises more than 4 vertical inches for every 12 horizontal inches.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing and non-slip rubber-soled shoes with good ankle support.
• Work on the roof only in dry, calm, warm weather. A wet roof can be treacherously slick; a sudden wind can knock you off balance.
• Never work on the roof when lightning threatens.
• Be careful not to put your weight on brittle or old roofing materials or rotted decking.
• Stay well away from power lines and be sure neither your body nor any equipment comes into contact with them. Keep children and pets away.

New Roofing Concepts

Every year people comes up with different roofing styles and techniques, Whether it's planting a green roof, installing building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems, or applying roof coatings (liquid roof, liquid rubber)or roofing materials to reduce material heat emittance and surface temperature, Building Teams are paying more attention to the roof plane. Changing the roofing concept is due to some natural effects. For example, events like Katrina,, and Rita. Now roof walls and roof assemblies are more powerful and can stand out in the extreme weather. Today most of the people insist to install green roof. What are its benefits do you know? Well, the main reason is that it reduce the heat that can is mostly effected the urban areas. 2nd storm water management and its increase the roof life and defiantly it reduce the energy consumption.
